In order to prevent unnecessary problems when crossing the Norwegian border, you should inform yourself here about the local, validated customs regulations.

Coming from Oslo, drive in a northerly direction. Follow the E6 toward Trondheim. After approx. 100 km,  turn right in the direction of Elverum (E3). In Elverum, turn left onto the E3, in the main direction of Tynset / Trondheim. Follow the E3 until you get to Ulsberg. Change right here onto the E6, in the direction of Trondheim. In the next village, Berkåk, turn left onto the '700' in the direction of Orkanger. Remain on the '700' until you get to Orkanger. Once you arrive in Orkanger, follow the '710' toward the ferry, until you reach Valset. In Valset, take the ferry to Brekstad (approx. 25 minute crossing). Once you arrive in Brekstad, please follow the signs to Garten.

 Total distance Oslo – Garten: approx. 550 kilometers.  

* The route described above is 50 kilometers shorter than the alternative route (following only along the E6). The route is recommended in particular during bad weather, in the spring and fall, as you can avoid the steep passes this way. Alternatively, you can just take the E6 from Oslo toward Trondheim and then turn onto the '700' in Berkåk. You should allow a full day's driving for both routes.

Arrival by plane:** ________________________________________________________________________

The destination airport is Trondheim-Vaernes: From the airport, either take a taxi or bus to the Trondheim harbor. The harbor is 25 km away from the airport. Once you arrive, take the 'Kystekspressen' (speedboat) to Brekstad. Please let us know your time of arrival in Brekstad in good time, so that we can come and collect you personally.

 ** Please be sure at the time of booking already that your travel agent takes into account the ferry connections and respectively the departure times of the 'Kystekspressen', to avoid unnecessary waiting times. The ferry connections for the speedboat are suitable only for passenger transfers from Trondheim to Kristiansund with a stopover in Brekstad.
